Cooperation
The cooperation of the Faculty of Economics (former Economic Sciences, former Faculty of Engineering and Economics of Agriculture, former Faculty of Economic and Agricultural Economics) of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences with national and foreign units, both in the sphere of science and broadly understood economic life, has a long tradition.
International scientific cooperation
An important element of international scientific cooperation is participation in the projects of the European Union framework programs. These are the most important mechanisms for financing and shaping research at the European level. The level of research carried out under the projects is very high, and the consortia implementing them are composed of the best units in Europe. Employees of the Faculty of Economics of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences in the period participated in the implementation of projects 6. and the 7th Framework Program. Research projects are also carried out under other European Union programs, e.g. VIAGGI II, European Commission tenders, COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) program.
A number of scientific conferences and seminars are organized at the Faculty, and employees and doctoral students of the Faculty actively participate in seminars and scientific conferences organized abroad. They are members of the program councils, chair plenary sessions, deliberations in sections, present papers and posters. WNE SGGW offers a program of research internships, among others as part of UNESCO, DAAD, CEEPUS, Fulbright Foundation, Norman E. Borlaug Fellowship, L. Kirkland Fund, Erasmus Mundus and others. Faculty staff sit on the program boards of several international scientific journals and are members of international organizations such as the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE), the International Farm Management Association (IFMA), the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE) and others.
International cooperation in the field of teaching
An important international field of the Faculty’s activities are various types of projects and didactic activities aimed at both students and adults. An example can be summer schools organized within the EUROLIGA network (a network of leading universities cooperating with each other in the field of natural resources management, agricultural and forestry sciences, life sciences, veterinary medicine, food sciences and environmental sciences – The Euroleague for Life Sciences). of adults in international cooperation was, for example, the subject of a project entitled RURALproEuropean Training Course for Future Professional Trainers of Regional and Rural Development in the Soctrates Grundtvig program. EU as part of the Lifelong Learning Program (LLP, Lifelong Learning) – Leonardo da Vinci (LdV), e.g. Development of teaching materials and quality assurance standard for the network of MBA programs “Management in agribusiness” or “Management in the food chain – European experience and local solutions ”, which in 2011 received a distinction in the competition for the best project of the LLP program, in the Institutional Projects category. In 2011, the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences acquired, as the main coordinator, the LdV project under the Transfer of Innovation.
Teaching activity on issues broadly related to the European Union has been and is being developed within the subjects offered by the Faculty employees implementing projects in the Jean Monnet program, now part of the LLP program. Examples of this type of activity are the following projects:
- Fiscal policy and public finances in the European Union,
- The economic policy of the European Union under the leadership,
- European Union regional policy,
- European integration. Adjustments in agriculture and rural areas to the requirements of the European Union,
- Rural development policy in the European Union,
- European Union agricultural law,
- Evaluation of the EU Cohesion Policy,
- The regional policy of the European Union from the micro perspective.
The development of international cooperation in the field of education was also reflected in the significant number of students sent to the university-wide number of students sent to implement part of the study program at foreign universities under the Socrates / Erasmus programs, then LLP Erasmus. Currently, the possibilities of student exchange exist within such programs as: LLP-ERASMUS, ERASMUS MUNDUS, CEEPUS and EURECA. At WNE WULS-SGGW there is a Master’s degree program in English: MEO – M.Sc. in Economics and Organization of Enterprices. The Faculty also runs Agri MBA postgraduate studies, implemented as part of the International MBA in Agribusiness Network.
Cooperation with the economic and institutional environment
An important field of activity of the Faculty of Economics is cooperation with units from the social and economic environment and the implementation of projects responding to the needs of this environment. The currently implemented project entitled “Cluster of Innovation in Agribusiness” received funding under the Regional Operational Program of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship for the years 2007-2013 (Priority I – Creating conditions for the development of innovation potential and entrepreneurship in Mazovia, Measure 1.6. Supporting cooperative relations of regional importance). Its main goal is the transfer of knowledge to broadly understood business (science to business – S2B), increasing the efficiency of technology and knowledge transfer between the participants of the Cluster, and, as a result, increasing the innovative potential of Mazovia. The project of the Center for Innovation and Knowledge Transfer in Agribusiness (CITWA) is co-financed from the public funds of the National Center for Research and Development as part of the “Creator of innovation – support for innovative academic entrepreneurship”. The project under the Program “Creator of innovation – support for innovative academic entrepreneurship” assumes the implementation of a number of initiatives aimed at creating conditions at the University for the provision of services related to transfer and commercialization of knowledge from SGGW to the economy and promotion of academic entrepreneurship among employees and students of the University.
The following projects implemented at WNE SGGW were co-financed by the Rural Development Program for 2007-2013:
- Training in the field of farm finance and insurance for farmers and farms in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie and Podlaskie voivodships
- Trainings in the field of farm finance and insurance for farmers and farms in Mazowieckie and Świętokrzyskie voivodships
- Training in the field of farm finance and insurance for farmers and farms in the Lubelskie and Podkarpackie voivodships
- Training in the field of farm finance and insurance for farmers and farms in the Łódzkie and Śląskie voivodships
- The use of a computer, computer programs and the Internet is a guarantee of efficient management of a farm in the Śląskie Voivodeship
Cooperation with business units also takes place on the basis of the so-called cooperation agreements. Such agreements vary depending on the specificity of the entity with which they are concluded. In general, they assume a declaration that the company accepts Faculty students for apprenticeships and internships as well as studies related to the performance of diploma theses and disseminating information about the company by the Faculty through didactic activities; The faculty and the company declare, if possible, to jointly organize courses, seminars thematically related to their activities, and to conduct scientific research with the participation of human resources and technical equipment of both parties.
Faculty employees are active members of expert teams established by state bodies or institutions as well as foreign or international institutions. In 2009-2012, they cooperated in this way with, for example, institutions such as: the European Commission, the OECD General Secretariat, the Representation of the European Commission in Poland, the National Bank of Poland, the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Food Economy, the National Research Institute, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Agriculture and Development Rural areas, the Ministry of Regional Development, the Ministry of National Defense, the Agricultural Market Agency, the Polish Bank Association and the Banking Law Center. A number of expert opinions and scientific studies commissioned by entrepreneurs, economic organizations and state institutions were also made.
