SELECTING THE SUBJECT OF THE LICENSE WORK – TIPS

Dear students,

We present the basic steps to be taken before submitting an application for approval of a work item:

STEP 1. Selection of the research problem that you want to describe and analyze at work. It is good if the subject of the work coincides with your area of interest.

STEP 2. Performing an initial literature review – we find at least 5 publications (scientific articles, books) that directly relate to the selected topic. It is worth using the search engines for scientific publications, e.g. https://scholar.google.com/ , https://search.crossref.org/ , www.webofknowledge.com , www.scopus.com , https://www.base-search.net/ , https://core.ac.uk/ and from the resources available in the Library of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and other libraries, e.g. Library of the National Bank of Poland.

STEP 3. Based on the preliminary literature review, we check how others analyzed a given research problem, what data they used, whether this data is publicly available or whether it is paid.

STEP 4. We consult the promoter on the selected topic of work. We ask the promoter to confirm whether the subject of the work is consistent with the field of study for which it is prepared.

Signed applications for approval of the work item must be submitted by the end of the winter semester of the 2020/21 academic year (application pattern – application No. 22 on the website https://www.we.sggw.pl/student/podania/).
